The Hope of God

Part One: Annual Review 2009

1. Gods Word through annual key verse

Based on God’s Word from Revelation 2:4, “Recovery of the first Love,” during the European Directors’ Conference in January in Deutschland, we at Bern UBF tried to establish the common vessel under our co-workers. We shared daily bread every morning via E-mail around the year. God blessed this sharing of daily bread, so that we received encouragement together which enabled us to serve many kinds of programs and do God’s work successfully. At the end of the year, God’s Word struck each of us with John’s Gospel 13, “the new covenant of our Lord”, so that we repented and could work together wholeheartedly in Jesus’ love for the coming Christmas Sunday worship service. The sheep sensed this very important thing and opened their heart for our worship service with joy. I thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit in us by Bern UBF.

2. Personal Bible study

I tried to read the Bible as many times as possible. Nowadays I try to read God’s word deeply for the coming Sunday worship service. If I don’t have enough time to read the Bible I try to hear the Bible text from CD in the car while driving.

In the beginning of this year based on God’s Word from the book of Joshua, I was challenged by Joshua’s spirit. I started waking up with Susanna early in the morning at 3:30 am, going to campus, and praying for 40 days. God filled our hearts with his vision, so that we prayed that God would raise up sometime one Swiss president from our UBF shepherds. Nowadays, I try to learn Jesus personally from John’s Gospel.

3. The Word, one to one Bible study, and fishing

Since the 2009 European Summer Bible Conference, the Lord has been leading many Bible students to us. As of now, we have one to one Bible study 3 to 4 times per week. We pray for sheep. Their names are Marianne, Elsbeth, Nora, Andreas, Matthieu, Cesar and Daniel.

4. Bible Academy and Conference

We regularly have Easter Bible academy with sheep. We all attended the 2009 ESBC. For the first time, we had an Autumn Bible Academy this year. At the end of this year we held Christmas Sunday worship service. Every time 5-7 sheep would come to attend the Bible academy. In the Autumn Bible Academy, Marianne delivered her life testimony and decided based on Gods Word from Genesis 12 to live as blessing of God.

5. Self-supporting and language master plan

Three self-supporting house churches in Bern are relatively stable without financial crisis because of their employment in the embassy. Only one family needs praying support because of the financial burden.

For the language master plan, Susanna Kim began the 6 months course by Swiss Red Cross to become a nurse assistant and interned 3 months at Burgerspital in Bern. She will try to get more education and a job in this field. Johannes Kim began business night school. After finishing he will seek a tele MBA.

6. Co-work and new generation

For the first time we began the children worship service. Johanna volunteered to be a Bible teacher for children. Every two weeks the children’s worship service is held. We will give more support and attention to the children worship service next year.

All co-workers in Bern shared daily bread together around the year. At the end of the year, the Lord worked with his Word from John’s Gospel and helped each of us to open our hearts and love one another to work for the Gospel. We celebrated this Christmas in 2009 with great joy, praise, and thanksgiving.

7. The world mission and Europe

We received many guests from the whole world this year who visited Switzerland. We served precious missionary co-workers with our whole heart. And God gave us world mission in our heart to see Bern UBF as a world mission center.
